Color Photographs: Traditional color photographs are also known as di-coupler transfer prints. Most commonly known as being made from a color negative projected onto a light sensitive color photographic emulsion. This is a dye additive system where the dyes are in the chemistry and the three light sensitive emulsions absorb Cyan, Magenta and Yellow to create a full spectrum of color. Digital files can also be projected to create C-Prints. Kodak and Fuji "crystal archive" papers are known for their color and longevity.
Ink Jet Prints: Ink jet printers continue to evolve and improve. The ink system, or the technology of different inks determines the color gamut, (a three dimensional map of color space ) and the longevity of digital photographs created. The media that is printed on also effects the color gamut and archival qualities too. The range of color and the variety of media available makes giclęe prints attractive to photographers, artists, and collectors.
